| WHAT IS TRAIN TO GAIN?
Train to Gain is a service from the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) which helps businesses get the training they need to succeed. Train to Gain aims to encourage all businesses and individuals to realise the benefits that learning and skills can bring.
To encourage businesses to take up the service, the LSC offers funding to those employers meeting specific criteria. Last year the government allocated more than £230 million to the programme and this year this figure is likely to rise above £399 million. Your business may also benefit from this funding so don’t lose out – read on and make a call today!

HOW DOES TRAIN TO GAIN WORK?
The Train to Gain offer can be separated into two main parts: Brokerage and Training Provision.
Brokerage
The brokerage service is fully funded and offers impartial and independent advice on skills, matching your employee training needs with training providers to support your business objectives. This advice is comprehensive and is not limited to qualifications that can be funded under Train to Gain.
As a result of the brokerage meeting and Organisational Needs Analysis, the employer will be presented with a choice of training solutions detailing recommended courses proposed by the broker and sourced to meet employer specifications. Where it is available, the broker recommendations will identify funding to support the training options offered.
Training Provision
The main offer of funding is that of a fully funded first NVQ Level 2 qualification to those employees who:
Are aged 19 or over
Do not already hold a Level 2 qualification (5 GCSEs at A to C, or academic equivalent)
Are a UK Citizen, an EU National or have been a resident in the UK for at least 3 years
There is also the offer of
A fully funded Level 3 ‘Jumper’ qualification ( for those without a Level 2, but capable of achieving a Level 3 NVQ)
A partially funded first Level 3 NVQ qualification
Many more regionally funded qualifications which your broker can discuss with you in more detail
Train to Gain is not the only financial support funding available, and funding will vary regionally. Your skills broker will also be able to discuss these options with you.
