"In the business world an executive knows something about everything, a technician knows everything about something and the switchboard operator knows everything."

Graduates rise to the challenge

Graduates rise to the challenge Graduate Challenge is a scheme managed by the University of Gloucestershire and Gloucestershire First in response to a need for graduate jobs in the area. The Higher Education Careers Services Unit released research suggesting that one in four young people aged between 18 and 24 are now out of work.

Triangle is committed to offering work experience opportunities to young people and was keen to take part in this worthwhile venture. In fact Triangle’s first graduate placement has gone so successfully that the placement went permanent. Elanwy Rockey now has a full time role as Business Co-ordinator; she even became a local star when she was asked to talk about her experiences on BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

When the scheme was continued Triangle took on another Graduate, Makiwa Makiwa, who is currently working within the IT team at Triangle. The University of Gloucestershire has published several success stories since the programme began and it seems that it has proved to be a great opportunity for both the graduates and the companies taking part throughout Gloucestershire.

Triangle puts Customers First!

Triangle puts Customers First! Triangle is celebrating after it was recently re-awarded the Customer First® accreditation. Customer First® is a nationally recognised quality standard which seeks to benchmark and promote excellence in customer satisfaction. The standard practically measures a company’s systems and processes against 32 critical statements.

The standard maintains that achieving the Customer First® accreditation can boost a business in several ways; improving financial turnover, becoming more competitive and developing customer loyalty.

As Triangle has expanded and evolved to become a Business Services company, working with both private and publicly funded organisations alike, customer care has become an ever more essential element of our service.

Triangle was first awarded the Customer First® standard in 2008 and has continued to develop its services to meet the criteria since then. It has even developed an Operational Excellence and Quality department to ensure that all customers receive a premium service.

JobSearching for success...!

The ‘JobSearch for Newly Unemployed Professionals’ project has made a successful headway supporting recently unemployed professional and managerial individuals both through ‘JobSearch Seminars’ and also one to one mentoring sessions.

The project is funded by the Department for Work and Pensions and seeks to alleviate high unemployment following the recession, particularly for those in professional or executive roles.

Triangle is currently delivering these services working with branches of Jobcentre Plus across London, the Midlands, the South West and Wales. The project is delivered by qualified and experienced advisers who are able to offer candidates advice on a whole range of career issues including; developing CVs, recognising your individual Unique Selling Points and how to achieve the right result in an interview. They are also able to provide guidance and tips for those who wish to try setting up their own business.

Triangle has been involved with the project for around six months and continues to be very successful. Many candidates have provided very positive feedback about how taking part in the project has enabled them to re-focus their job search and in several cases secure a new job!

One candidate said;

An excellent and motivating session which has helped me to regain my confidence in my professional skills

In addition to the seminars, Triangle has set up a ‘Recruitment Zone’ on its website which offers help and advice for professional jobseekers.

Developing World Class Skills

Developing World Class Skills Triangle has taken part in a second Thematic Development Training project, part of the World Class Skills programme, managed by LSIS (The Learning Skills and Improvement Service).

One of the main aims of the Thematic projects was to enable providers to disclose best practice and develop documented examples to share within the sector. The projects are now complete and publications are available via the link shown at the end of this article.

Triangle’s most recent involvement was with the project entitled ‘How are pre-employment providers engaging with employers?’. It brought together a range of providers from different areas, and differing in size. Triangle, with its business service experience shared best practice by disseminating their approach to telemarketing and other commercial engagement services. This information was disseminated and documented for sharing with the provider community. The Thematic events have followed dozens of subjects, and last year Triangle took part in the Strategic Marketing series.

Triangle MD cycles for charity As always the team at Triangle are committed to raising money for good causes and this year the Managing Director, David Michael, will dust off his bike again and complete a London to Brighton bike ride in June. David has successfully completed the 60 mile bike ride for the past two years and raised over £5000 for Wheel Power, a charity which provides sports wheelchairs to the disabled.

David has once again set himself an ambitious target, hoping to raise £5000 ahead of the 2012 Paralympics. He has set up a Justgiving page so if you would like to offer him any support or find out more about the bike ride, you can follow the link below.
