Grow Your Business with an Apprentice...

Grow Your Business with an Apprentice... The South West Apprenticeship Company (SWAC) officially launched in February during National Apprenticeships Week, has been going from strength to strength.

SWAC, along with a dozen other organisations around the UK, has been kick-started with funding from the National Apprenticeship Service to provide an alternative way to deliver Apprenticeships. SWAC is an ATA (Apprenticeship Training Association) and is based on an Australian model that works like this: The apprentice is employed directly by the ATA (rather like they would be with a recruitment agency). The apprentice is placed with a ‘Host Organisation’ for the duration of their Apprenticeship and the Host Organisation pays the ATA their wages, other statutory employment costs and a small fee. The overwhelming benefit of this system is that any business can become a Host Organisation and take on an apprentice without the risks usually associated with employing them directly.

The SWAC website, advertising vacancies, has received 100s of applications already and the service piloted in Gloucestershire is being rolled out throughout the whole of the South West this year. Employers are also eager to sign up for this offer, and Employer Account Managers can now be seen sailing through the region in their easily spotted SWAC branded SMART cars!

Celebrating the launch of Triangle Recruitment

Celebrating the launch of Triangle Recruitment The Triangle group of companies is growing all the time and with so much experience of supporting businesses and employment, it seems a logical move for Triangle to offer its expertise in the form of a brand new recruitment service. Triangle Recruitment Consultants Ltd is a newly registered company which is working in partnership with the South West Apprenticeship Company (SWAC) to provide a whole spectrum of recruitment services.

The attachment to the Triangle group also provides a wider range of potential candidates for employers, and a wider range of opportunities for job–seekers. By working closely with SWAC, candidates who are suitable for and interested in Apprenticeship placements can be assessed and put through to appropriate employers seeking apprentices.

Providing young people with a Passport to Work

Providing young people with a Passport to Work Early this year marked the launch of Triangle’s business support project, Passport to Work. Running in 14 boroughs throughout London, this programme matches NEETs (young persons Not in Employment, Education or Training) into sustainable employment or education.

Funding is delivered by the ESF (European Social Fund) through the LDA (London Development Agency) and partners helping to support the project’s delivery include: Eden College, Pecan Training and Shape.

Passport to Work is a great opportunity for businesses hoping to support a disengaged young person rejoin the workforce. It also shows true commitment to CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). It can help to boost profile and increase customer numbers because participants will be better perceived by actively supporting young persons, local employment and the community.
