South West Apprenticeship Company announced nationwide

South West Apprenticeship Company announced nationwide On 21st October the Department of Business Innovation and Skills released a government press release announcing Triangle as one of 12 organisations with a contract to deliver apprenticeships over the next 3 years.

Triangle will set up a subsidiary, the ‘South West Apprenticeship Company’ (SWAC) to support the delivery of a range of Apprenticeship frameworks across the South West of England. Acting as the employer, SWAC will place apprentices with host organisations, offering a range of advantages over traditional apprenticeship schemes, not least the benefit of removing the risk faced by smaller companies of taking on such a commitment.

SWAC offers a variety of support to the employer, helping to match apprentices with placements, and organising the training delivery with a local provider.

This nationwide scheme was also announced by Apprenticeships Minister Kevin Brennan who said “We want to give small and medium-sized firms the extra support and resources they need to take on more apprentices’.

SWAC will start a pilot campaign from January 2010, seeking to place apprentices into placements within the Northern Arc of the South West region (Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Bristol). Triangle aims to deliver 2,300 apprenticeships over the first 3 years.

British Pathe – Old News is Good News for Triangle!

British Pathe – Old News is Good News for Triangle! British Pathe is one of the world’s most recognised names when it comes to old news archives – perhaps you remember Pathe news being shown at the cinema during the intervals?

The archive footage, which dates from 1896 to 1976, has now been digitalised so it’s conveniently available and downloadable to film makers and other organisations. Triangle has successfully won the contract to deliver a new subscription service for museums and libraries, giving them access to the archive to use in their exhibitions and public displays. The offer, developed between British Pathe and the MLA (Museums and Libraries Association) allows museums unlimited access to the archive for only £60 per month. The archive holds over 3500 hours of film and 12 million stills, covering a range of features, news, sports and much more.

Triangle is providing several services for British Pathe including inbound and outbound telemarketing, data services, administration and management of some direct marketing campaigns. If you would like more details about the Business Services Triangle can provide, or are interested in the project please contact Shelley Mills on 0870 950 1177.

JobSearch Support helps professionals and managers

JobSearch Support helps professionals and managers JobSearch Support for Newly Unemployed Professionals is the name of a project awarded to Triangle by the DWP. The programme offers a range of services that support professional job seekers to find a suitable high level role. It is especially relevant in today’s employment climate, where redundancies are still common across the UK, in a range of industries.

Much of the support comes in the form of a seminar covering areas such as CV development, achieving results at Interviews, and lessons on how to sell yourself into the hidden jobs market. Delegates also receive a comprehensive ‘Jobsearch toolkit’.

A section on the Triangle website has been developed to provide tips and advice for professional job seekers. ‘The Recruitment Zone’ features links to other information sources, including an extensive list of job vacancy sites.

Guest speakers welcomed at Business Leader Success Programme

Guest speakers welcomed at Business Leader Success Programme Since the start of Triangle’s Business Leaders Success Programme in November, we’ve been fortunate enough to sign up some fantastic guest speakers to join some of the sessions, including local business guru Franco Muccini.

Franco, Centre Director of the new Gloucester Quays Designer Outlet left school with just 5 O’levels but started a successful career in 1989 in retail. This culminated in his senior position for one of the most important commercial developments for the local area.

Delegate, Ann Bevan from Little Stars Nursery said “It was all very relaxed and informal but at the same time I really learned a lot. The message I got from Franco was that a lot of business is really about perception and you have to look at the way clients and potential clients perceive you and your business.”

Other guest speakers include Graham Walker, CEO of Marketing Gloucester Ltd.

The success of these ‘Action Learning’ courses was illustrated in the recent National Training Awards in October, where Triangle’s Action Learning for Social Care Leaders’ was shortlisted as a regional finalist.
