London and the Home Counties

Project: Train to Gain

Client: LSC London Region

Date: April 2006 - March 2009

Aims of project: From April 2006 to March 2009, Triangle was the Learning and Skills Council appointed Skills Brokerage Organisation for Train to Gain covering several business sectors in the London region. These sectors include Health and Social Care, Business and Finance, Creative & Cultural and Judicial & Central Government.
Train to Gain aims to encourage all businesses and individuals to realise the benefits that learning and skills can bring. Employers receive a free appointment with a skills broker and as a result of this meeting, are presented with a choice of training solutions detailing recommended courses proposed by the broker.

A successful result: During the course of the service Triangle have engaged over 5000 employers onto the Train to Gain programme and helped successfully develop a new specialised service for larger employers. Triangle currently provide skills brokerage support to employers under an agreement with London Brokerage Ltd.



 

Project: Leadership & Management Specialist Advisory Service

Client: LSC London

Date: April 2008 - March 2011

Aims of project: partnership with London Brokerage Consortium to deliver the Leadership and Management Specialist Advisory Service under the Train to Gain umbrella across the London Region. Specialist service designed to develop the skills of key leaders and managers through a structured diagnostics process the production of a Personal Action Plan, brokerage and access to grants. Over 2700 businesses to be supported.

A successful result: Triangle has delivered Leadership and Management for several years under Train to Gain, and continue to deliver successful results for this newly evolved Leadership and Management Advisory Service with a dedicated Adviser Team.



Project: Train to Gain NVQ provision

Client: Learning and Skills Council

Date: September 2009 – December 2010


Aims of project: Triangle is working with the Royal Forest of Dean College to deliver NVQ provision in London under the Train to Gain banner. The project’s aim is to complete 350 NVQs with learners in the Health and social Care, and Logistics sectors. The NVQs are at level 4, 3 and 2 with significant volumes of higher levels and include a selection of cross cutting subjects such as Management and Business Administration.



Project: Health Care Capacity Building Project

Client: Learning & Skills Council

Date: Nov 08 - present

 

Aim of project: This capacity building project is aimed at growing the skills capacity of large employers in the Health Care sector and to support the take up of two new NVQ frameworks at level 3 through increasing delivery capacity in the provider network, focussing on various boroughs in London.

 

A successful result: Working with the Large Employers Unit under the Train to Gain umbrella, employer forums have been successfully run to instigate preliminary research which will structure the way forward.




Project: Creative & Cultural Capacity Building Project

Client: Learning & Skills Council

 

Date: Nov 08 – present

 

Aim of project: This capacity building project is aimed at growing the skills capacity (particularly customer service) of large employers in the Creative and Cultural and Hospitality sectors and to manage an expected increase in tourism from major events planned to take place in London over the next 5 years, such as the Olympic Games planned for 2012.

 

A successful result: Working with the Large Employers Unit under the Train to Gain umbrella, forums and a large employer event have been successfully completed providing the foundation for the programmes future progression.

Project: Action Learning for Social Care Leaders

Client: Skills for Care London

Date: 2008 - 2009

Aims of project: Working in North East, North Central and South East London. Action Learning for Social Care Leaders supported the Continued Professional Development of 60 senior managers and owner/managers of adult social care provision through the management and delivery of Action Learning Sets.

A successful result: 60 individuals were recruited to participate over a series of 6 workshops and participant feedback was extremely positive. Using this programme as the model, we are now working with the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) to achieve endorsement and/or recognition of our Action Learning Set programmes.

Project: Promoting Lifelong Learning

Client: LSC London West

Date: June 2006 - May 2008

Aims of project: The project developed out of the need to embed quality benchmarked business practice and 'soft skill' training throughout priority sectors, identified across West London as least likely to have engaged in workforce development. 40 SMEs were targeted during the project from the key sectors of manufacturing, engineering, health, social care and not-for-profit; and an Organisational Needs Analysis (ONA) diagnostic was completed for each. 30 organisations were also supported with an appropriate quality development or accreditation tool.

A successful result: All targets for quality standard commitments and achievements were met and exceeded. In consultation with our project partners, extensive diagnostic activity was completed with over 50 organisations and more than 100 employee beneficiaries were recruited for a successful development programme in 5 key subject areas. The number of employers achieving a quality accreditation was 20% above target.

Project: 'The Quality Improvement Toolbox Project'

Client: Enfield College

Date: August 2006 - July 2008

Aims of project: Pan London ESF co-financed project. Enfield College was the lead and Triangle worked in partnership together with Felix Solutions, The Creative Collective, Faith in London, Kaldear and Rocket Science. 'The Quality Improvement Toolbox Project' aim was to develop the capacity of 250 ESF-funded training organisations in London to produce best practice Self-Assessment Reports and Quality Improvement Plans into which ESF provision is embedded. It thereby assisted organisations to continually improve the quality of their provision.

A successful result: Training providers have been assisted to continually improve the quality of their provision, and extra support was supplied when a need was identified to advise and guide participants to achieve quality accreditations, in order to support the implementation of Quality Improvement Plans.

Project: Capacity Building Toolbox

Client: Enfield College

Date: January 2005 - December 2006

Aims of project: Pan London ESF co-financed project. Enfield College was the lead and Triangle worked in partnership together with Faith in London, Happy Computers, St Pancras Housing Association and The Creative Collective. The 'Capacity Building Toolbox' project's aim was to develop management and leadership skills in the voluntary and community sector, including social enterprises.

A successful result: Triangle exceeded beneficiary targets and successfully delivered bespoke training packages to meet beneficiary needs.



 

Project: Employer Skills Offer

Client: LSC London West

Date: October 2004 - September 2006

Aims of project: West London project 'Employer Skills Offer' working with the LSC's Employer Engagement Unit in the priority sectors of Construction, Engineering, Manufacturing, Health, Social Care and Voluntary/Not for Profit. The objective was to further engage with employers, promoting and supporting workforce development, including IiP and providing Skills Brokerage (Apprenticeships, NVQs and Skills for Life). Also working with key stakeholders, e.g. NHS SHA, to build sector performance and capacity.

A successful result: Triangle successfully exceeded the target of employer engagements (127% against profile), and over delivered in several other areas of the programme, including the number of Development Plans and Investor in People (IiP) commitments.



 

Project: LSC IiP Support Network

Client: LSC London Central

Date: January 2004 - December 2004

Aims of project: Central London. ESF funded project. The aim of the project was to assist and support the development of high quality provision targeted at recognised Investors in People SMEs. The project also developed innovative ways of working in partnership to strengthen and add value to SME support mechanisms in Central London.

A successful result: The project recruited the full target of SME members and built a support network with the objectives of helping maintain their IiP status, facilitating successful post-recognition reviews, adoption of Profile Review Profile and assessment against the other IiP stretch models.




Project:
Capacity Building for Maximum Impact

Client: LSC London West

Date: December 2003 - December 2004

Aims of project: West London. ESF funded project. Capacity building for maximum impact was aimed at voluntary and community sector organisations that serve priority groups, to improve prospects of those at risk of labour market exclusion. This programme provided a pan-West London opportunity for these organisations to network, share practices and learn and improve their business skills.

A successful result: Triangle exceeded the target of employers engaged and organisations received additional support for other capacity building skills such as bid writing and fundraising.



 

Project: Employer Needs and F.E. Provision Research

Client: LSC London West

Date: 2002

Aims of project: West London. Research project to identify employer needs and usage of FE colleges, FE provision and its uptake by employers, compare both elements of the research as well as establish and compare projected curricula for FE provision and employer-led needs.

A successful result: Triangle conducted telephone interviews and mail surveys with a total of 530 employers, resulting in a comprehensive 100 page research report document of findings and recommendations.

Project: Adviser Appointment Generation

Client: Business Link (Various - London)

Date: 1999 - 2002

Aims of project: Triangle delivered several projects for Business Link London, to generate appointments across the whole of London. Telemarketing activity generated appointments for HR and IiP Advisers, and also Export Advisers.

A successful result: Over 1000 appointments were generated for Business Links in North West London, London West, London Lea Valley and Surrey.

Project: IiP Research

Client: North West London TEC and Business Link

Date: 2000

Aims of project: North West London. Research Project. “Is Delivery of Investors in People Meeting Customers Needs and Expectations - Are They Satisfied?” The objective of the research was firstly to gather information on the financial impact of Investors in People for organisations being supported and secondly to evaluate their customer satisfaction and needs.

A successful result: A comprehensive report was produced presenting conclusions and recommendations using feedback provided by 111 organisations.

Project: Building a Better Business & IiP Recognition

Client: North West London TEC

Date: 1998 - 2000

Aims of project: Marketing and delivery of Investors in People to SMEs in North West London, working closely with CITB.

A successful result: 60 businesses were engaged onto the programme and supported with a mix of Diagnostics, Action Plans, Implementation Consultancy and Workshops.

Date: 1997 - 2000

Aims of project: Working closely with CITB in East London to deliver several programmes: Skills for Small Businesses, The Key Worker Development Programme, Building a Business Programme and Investors in People and NVQ awareness programmes.

A successful result: The range of programmes were successfully delivered and 380 businesses supported.



Midlands and North


Project: Proud to Lead

Client: West Yorkshire Police

Date: June 2009 – Jan 2010


Aims of Project: Triangle has been employed to deliver a Leadership and Management Development Programme to senior officers within the West Yorkshire Police.
Developed to support individuals in their personal development, the programme also has the additional aim of addressing the force’s larger organisational objectives; maintaining new strategies relating to customer satisfaction and the perception of the police in the local community.

A successful result: The success of the initial part of the programme led to Triangle supporting the force to train police staff as facilitators in order for the programme to be rolled out internally. 


  
Project: SBA Conference

Client: Skills Broker Association Date:

February 2009

Aims of Project: The Skills Brokerage Association (SBA) Inaugural National Conference, a national event held in Birmingham, took place in February 2009 involving a variety of key stakeholders within the Skills Broker arena. Triangle’s event team co-ordinated agenda content, recruited guest speakers, delegate recruitment and management, exhibitor marketing and sponsorship (sponsorship secured from LSC, BERR, and DIUS). This was a platform to stimulate new areas of businesses, procedures, and promote a better understanding of the sector as a whole.

A successful result: The event was heavily focused upon Skills Brokers networking to share experience and to disseminate best practice procedures and an audience of over 300 delegates was generated (including 200 paying delegates).

 


  

Wales and South West


Project: ApprenticeshipPlus

Client: LSC South West

Date: July 2009 – Present

Aims of Project: This new pilot project has been set up to aid the success of apprenticeships through mentoring in the South West of England from September 2009. The programme funded through the Learning and Skills Council aims to help 150 LDD apprentices (those with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities) and 130 employers that currently provide work for apprentices.

Apprentices will receive specialist support from LDD experienced mentors, and once the project is completed Triangle will look to form case studies and best practice data for similar future schemes. The programme will be carried out working in partnership with local Further Education providers and part of the project involves promoting apprenticeships through potential recruitment routes such as local schools. 


Project: Opportunity Swindon

Client: Employment Opportunities (Part of Shaw Trust)

Date: May 09 – Present

Aims of Project: The Opportunity Swindon programme, funded through ESF and LSC, offers short term work placements for individuals with disabilities and health conditions in the Swindon area. It supports the development of employability for people with disabilities, benefiting both the individual and the wider local economy. Triangle delivers part of the programme that helps employers to take part in the scheme, assisting them to identify potential work placements which are then matched to learners.

A successful result: The official launch of the event in June saw immediate sign ups from large local employers, and employer engagement activity continues to meet target profiles.


Project: Cymru A La Carte

Date: April 09 - Present


Aims of Project: The Cymru A La Carte Business Improvement Programme has been developed by Triangle as a stand alone product to be used in conjunction with funding made available by the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) using grants from the Strategic Investment Fund. For eligible SMEs this can be to support Strategic Mentoring, General Consultancy and Specialist Consultancy.

A successful result: The very early stages of this programme indicate a high level of interest from businesses, with a large potential take up of the support available.

Project: Welsh Language Policy Programme

Client: Welsh Language Board

Date: Oct 2008 - Present

Aims of project: Triangle is working with the Welsh Language Board to help employers across South West Wales produce and implement a Welsh Language Policy, in order for them to provide a bilingual service to their customers.

A successful result: Using Triangle’s own bi-lingual resources, 100% of employers have already been engaged onto the programme, giving a successful start to this pilot.

Project: Gloucester Works

Client: Gloucestershire First

Date: August 2008 - December 2009

Aims of project: Gloucester. Delivered as part of the Gloucester Works programme and funded through ESF, the programme supports businesses in Gloucester to diagnose their recruitment and skills needs, support succession planning and business growth.

A successful result: Early indications show Triangle meeting employer engagement targets and programme delivery has already developed successfully in order to fulfil changes to some of the programme objectives.

Project: HRD Workforce Development Programme

Client: Welsh Assembly Government

Date: August 2008 - August 2011

Aims of project: Wales (all regions). The 'HRD Workforce Development Programme' provides tailored advice and support to enhance the skills of SME employees across Wales and meet business objectives, underpinned by the IiP Standard. Triangle's team of Human Resource Development Advisers conduct strategic diagnostics against the IiP Standard and/or the IiP Leadership and Management Model and help to generate Organisational Development Plans, develop Business Learning Plans, support the implementation of these plans and provide ongoing support.

A successful result: In the first few months Triangle has established new premises and hugely exceeded employer engagement targets.



Project: Public Sector Procurement Research logo

Client: Gloucestershire Electronic Partnership

Date: April 2004 - June 2004

Aims of project: Gloucestershire. Research on the procurement of goods and services for the public sector by the SME business population to inform how Gloucestershire's Procurement Partnership implements e-procurement.

A successful result: 317 survey responses were used in the evaluation, and a full research report presented. The outcome of the research brought about a better understanding of the attitude towards, capacity and readiness for, local SMEs procuring electronically and through more traditional methods with the public sector in Gloucestershire.

Project: Passport to Work

Client: LSC West of England

Date: September 2003 - December 2004

Aims of project: West of England. 'Passport to Work' was an ESF funded project that recruited 2000 local employers willing to support unemployed Young People through work experience placements. For 350 16-19 year olds their participation was mapped in terms of learning distance travelled, including assimilation of Key Skills. The project worked closely with local agencies for Young People and work experience opportunities were made available to support the E2E and Education Unlimited initiatives.

A successful result: At the project end, all Outputs, Outcomes and Milestones were achieved. The significant involvement from West of England employers ensured a diverse range of work experience opportunities were available to meet the young participants needs. 10 beneficiaries achieved offers of full time employment, 1 with an apprenticeship, and many other beneficiaries confirmed a positive impact on their lives because of the experience.

Project: Developing the potential for IAG services in the workplace

Client: Gloucestershire County Council

Date: 2002 - 2003

Aims of project: Gloucestershire. This research project 'Developing the potential for IAG services in the workplace', was commissioned by GO (Gloucestershire Opportunities), the local Information, Advice & Guidance Partnership as part of its Quality Development Fund project Enhance Work with Employers. The proposed aim of the research was to accurately identify the ways in which IAG can be delivered through employers.

A successful result: This research exercise met with good co-operation from participants and produced a wide spectrum of results, contributing to the value of the findings. A report was completed and conclusions presented to the council for future use.

Project: ELWa SFTI (Various)

Client: ELWa South East, ELWa South West, ELWa Mid Wales

Date: 2001 - 2003

Aims of project: Triangle delivered the SFTI (Small Firms Training Initiative) project to many regions across Wales. The project aimed to recruit 'Training Champions' from small businesses (less than 50 employees) supporting them to develop and implement a training plan, and in achieving this, gain part accreditation towards an NVQ in Training and Development.

A successful result: Triangle successfully engaged with a total of 350 businesses to deliver all projects successfully across Wales.

Project: Business Training Network

Client: South Wiltshire Economic Partnership (Salisbury District Council)

Date: 2001 - 2003

Aims of project: Salisbury and South Wiltshire. Setting up a peer 'Business Training Network' with the objective to establish wide participation amongst local businesses, local training providers and SWEP Partners. Engagement methodologies included an online web based facility and events.

A successful result: The network proved itself as an innovative and visibly advantageous business support mechanism. Even with huge potential for growth, the end of the pilot had already achieved 138 registered members.

Project: “Building Links with Employers”

Client: Bristol and South Gloucestershire Councils

Date: 2000

Aims of project: South Gloucestershire and Bristol (a joint Council project). “Building Links with Employers” - research on behalf of the Early Years Development & Childcare Partnership to inform how effective working links can be developed with employers and how family friendly policies are/can be implemented by employers.

A successful result: A report was presented based upon written and verbal feedback generated by 47 Kids Clubs (80% of total in Gloucestershire). In addition 229 parents using Kids Clubs provided detailed feedback representing around 30% of Users. 24 Employers have also taken part in the research.

Project: Business online 2000

Client: Gloucestershire County Council

Date: 2000

Aims of project: Gloucestershire. Research project Business online 2000 - Could A Network of Gloucestershire's Small Employers Supporting Each Other Be The Way Forward? What Role Could the Internet Play? The pilot project sought to identify whether there was a local need for peer networking and support opportunities and whether, once established, the need and the support mechanisms could be sustained.

A successful result: Research was conducted and a comprehensive report produced with conclusions and recommendations, using feedback provided by 135 SMEs.

Project: Training & Enterprise Council SFTI (Various)

Client: TEC South East Wales, West Wales TEC, Mid Glam TEC, South Glam TEC, Gwent TEC

Date: 1998 - 2001

Aims of project: The TEC SFTI initiative promoted planned training activity in small companies operating in the private sector. Its aim was to help small companies develop their workforce by improving in-house expertise in training and development.

A successful result: Over 450 small businesses in regions across Wales were supported through the programme, completing and implementing a Company Training Plan in support of their business objectives.

Date: 1998 - 2000

Aims of project: A selection of Research projects in Gloucestershire, including an evaluation of Skills for Small Businesses (including a dissemination event), an evaluation of Out of School Childcare Clubs and a county-wide management development event (Get Ahead of the Game 2000).

A successful result: Triangle successfully achieved quantitative and qualitative reporting to inform future public sector funded projects.
